Academy
Training, knowledge and sharing for a regenerative viticulture.
An approach to pruning grounded in an understanding of the physiology and architecture of the vine. By observing sap flows, tissue organisation and the plant's response to cuts, the aim is to build more balanced, functional and long-lived vines.

Want a more resilient, healthier and more productive vineyard? Discover how cover crops can transform your vineyard system in the context of regenerative viticulture.

An opportunity to understand the fundamental principles of regenerative viticulture and begin the transition to more sustainable practices.

A two-day, in-person course with Marceau Bourdarias (Architects du Vivant), held twice: 28–29 October at Zona Agro, Vila Real, and 2–3 November at Família Nicolau, Torres Vedras.
An approach to pruning grounded in an understanding of the physiology and architecture of the vine. By observing sap flows, tissue organisation and the plant's response to cuts, the aim is to build more balanced, functional and long-lived vines.
The course combines theory with hands-on practice in the vineyard, making it possible to understand the impact of every pruning cut and to develop a training system suited to the physiology of the plant, the production goals and the existing vineyard.
Day 1 — Observing and understanding the plant
Day 2 — Putting the pruning strategy into practice
7 hours per day, theory and practice. Download the full programme (PDF, in Portuguese).
Marceau Bourdarias — Researcher, trainer and consultant, founder of Architects du Vivant. For over a decade he has been developing and teaching an approach to vine training and pruning based on the physiology, architecture and longevity of the plant, with particular attention to sap flows and the impact of cuts.
Paul Chevreux — French winegrower, settled in the Dão since 2019, where he farms 3 hectares of vines under physiological pruning or in transition. An Architect du Vivant, he provides live translation of the course into Portuguese.
Vinha Viva members: €290.00 · Non-members: €350.00. Maximum of 20 participants per course. The course is taught in French with live translation into Portuguese.
